The local shagbark hickory trees have been dropping nuts for a few weeks now. I thought I'd take this opportunity to identify the tree for you. I love their bark!
Belchertown is located in the heart of the Five Colleges Region of the Pioneer Valley in Western Massachusetts. Surrounded by farms, hills, and woods, it's bordered by the Quabbin Reservoir to the east and by the Holyoke Mountains to the west. Just a short distance from Amherst, Northampton, and Springfield, it has easy access to the multiple museums, shops, restaurants, music venues, and colleges the region has to offer. What a great place to be!
